I have been looking for companies that would allow a newbie like me to join their affiliate marketing program. Most companies belonged to an affiliate marketing network that handled this service for them. One name kept coming up: ShareASale. So I gave it a try.
Applying to ShareASale was fast and easy. They responded by email within a couple of days. Then I was able to easily apply to as many companies as I liked!

Responses only take a day or so, or even less!

Now the rest is up to me to put the links they give me onto my websites. I have to get them to as large an audience as I can. Hopefully, all this traffic will result in commissions!
The companies vary in commission rates. They seem to average between about 5% to 20% of the final sale price. They also offer a variety of "cookie" days. That's how long they will give you credit for purchases made by each person who uses your link. That can range from about 2 days to even 90 days! A good number is about 15 to 30 days. This window of time gives you a better chance of getting credit for your efforts while your customer thinks things over.
